Hello and Welcome to the Rustik Rooster Farms web site.  We are located directly in the heartland of America right in the breadbasket.  Rustik Rooster Farms are where the first Swabian Hall breed of pig were born and raised. 

Readlyn Iowa...the Home of the Iowa Swabian Hall, we use two farms that have been in the Strotman family for many years. Larry Strotman has been instrumental in the development of our breed of swine.  His facilities have allowed us to breed into existence a special pig with its roots in Baden Germany. Ron Lohmann has been working with pigs for over 50 years and having a wonderful time as our herdsman.  He takes very good care of our herd and maintains the breeding lines along with farrowing.  Without his assistance our herd would not be as large or as healthy as it is today.  When you couple these two with our Master Finisher Mark Broka we have a recipe for success.  All the heavy lifting gets done by Sean Blake and soon Devyn West will be assisting us with our multiple herds. At Rustik Rooster Farms we do not believe in the poor treatment of animals, nor confinement. There are just too many negatives with confinement farming that we don’t want to eat any products provided using US confinement methods of development.

Farrowing crates simply do not work for certain kinds of swine.  We discovered that the Swedish Farrowing method was the best farrowing technique for our very special pigs.  We will go into this farrowing method in much more detail on our farrowing page.  Higher litter rates, less mortality, happier pigs, healthier pigs, and much healthier for you as a prepared food.
